Staffordshire: Rolleston rehoming centre
Location Details
We opened in 2006 and can care for up to 55 horses in our paddocks and stables. We also have a small cattery that can care for up to five cats.
Our Rehoming Team is dedicated to finding the right pet for you. If you are interested in a pet on our website please complete a rehoming form in the first instance, you can find this on the pet’s profile page.
To see which pets are available on our website please visit our rehome a pet page. You can see pets available at all our locations or narrow your search more locally. Our pages are updated regularly so please keep visiting them.
Drop-in hours
Can I visit the centre without an appointment?
Yes. You can visit between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. We are closed to visitors without a pre-booked appointment on Wednesdays.
What can I drop in for?
Our team are here to help. So, whether it’s about volunteering, donating, pet advice or information on how to adopt a pet, we’ll talk you through.
Can I rehome a pet when I drop in?
You’ll need to apply to adopt a pet on our website. This is to make sure the application process is as fair as possible to everyone. If we think you’ll be a good match for one of our pets, we’ll contact you to start the process.
Can I meet a pet when I drop in?
Most of our dogs, cats and small pets are looked after by our fantastic team of foster carers. This ensures they get the best care. If we do have pets in our centres, we try to limit the number of people who can see them to those who have a pre-booked appointment, as lots of visitors can be stressful.
Home Direct
Our Home Direct scheme is for horses whose owners can sadly no longer keep them but don’t need to find them a new home straight away. Horses stay in their existing home until a new owner is found for them. All horses go through our careful assessment and matching process.
Home 2 Home
Our Home 2 Home scheme is for existing Blue Cross horses whose loan homes can sadly no longer keep them but don’t need to find them a new home straight away. Horses stay in their existing home until a new owner is found for them. All horses go through our careful assessment and matching process.
Fostering
Become a short term foster carer for pets at Blue Cross and help improve the welfare of the animals in our care.
Horse foster yards
As a volunteer foster carer for horses you will be:
- experienced
- committed
- able to offer short term care to Blue Cross horses on your own land
You could be a part of this amazing team and directly help the many horses in our care.
If you are interested in this rewarding volunteer role, please email Claire Birkinshaw.
Cat foster homes
We're looking for foster carers who will look after cats in their own home. This may be needed while they are:
- recuperating from operations or illnesses
- waiting to find a permanent new home
If you live within 45 minutes of the centre and are interested in this rewarding volunteer role, please email our cattery to learn more.
Amazon wish list
Buy our horses a treat or purchase something to help our centre be the best it can be. Or, if you'd rather treat our cats, here's their wish list.
What if I need to give up my pet?
Giving up your pet is a difficult decision to make but we're here for you.
