Ludlow is a medieval market town in south Shropshire, close to the Welsh border and about 24 miles west of Kidderminster. Its historic town centre features many beautiful half-timbered buildings (there are 500 listed buildings in town) and centres around the bustling market square. The lively town holds many events and festivals throughout the year, the most well-known being the Food and Drink Festival in September. Food lovers come from across the UK to eat, drink and be merry at the UK’s original (and best) food festival. Ludlow also has a reputation as a foodie haven, boasting many independent shops, restaurants and cafes, not to mention the excellent local producers you will find in the market. Ludlow is situated on the edge of the Shropshire Hills area of outstanding natural beauty, making it an excellent base for those wishing to explore the hills, valleys and forests of The Marches. There are walks and cycle routes for all abilities, many which start from the town itself.
